Five things I wish I knew before starting a business!

Five things I wish I knew before starting a business!

5 min read

We’ve all seen these post where they give you steps about money, time management, balancing a social life and etc. But what about YOU? Yes, starting a business is bomb. You’re your own boss, you can make money and eliminate the middle man and with all of this comes power. What should that cost you?

Here is five things I wish knew before starting a business:

Long nights means you probably don’t have time for friends or sometimes yourself

You know how many times I’ve worked on my small business and looked up like “SHIT!”. It’s 3:30am, I forgot to eat and I have to be at my full-time job by 11am. Having a business sometimes puts you in grind mode. You can put  long hours into your business but let’s be very serious, take some time for yourself and friends/family.

You’re  not in this alone, find a circle of like minded people to cry and vent to

The problem that small business owners face is that we feel we are in this alone. I used to think, “I can’t tell nobody I’m stressed and struggling because they just see me making money and smiling” and there is some truth in that. Sometimes people dismiss your “stress” or “unhappiness” because they only see the good part. Get you a group of people that can related to the struggles of entrepreneurship.

Celebrate all those wins, you deserve it

Stop feeling like you can’t celebrate until you hit a million dollars, that’s crazy! I celebrated after integrating my email automation system into my website. First of all, I did it by myself and I was proud. Don’t be afraid to take your self out to lunch or buy that new Kitchen Maid for you business. TIP: Match the goal to the celebration/reward. Don’t be out here blowing a $100 dollars because you sold $10 dollars worth of products/services.

Everybody ain’t gone understand the hustle, which might piss you off

You ain’t gone get everyone to understand why you do what you do. Sometimes it’s going to piss you off to have to explain why you can’t or can do something. Don’t stress it. Allow the cards to fall where they may. You know the method to your madness and that’s it.

Remember to love the reason why you started, you’ll need to remind yourself of that often

If I told y’all that everyday was a good day at Bom Bombs, I will be a bold face liar. I have literally thought about quitting at least 7 times in my course of 4 years in business. Because of my cycle being present (LOL) or I was literally struggling. But it’s so much more bigger than me and I have to remind myself of that. I started Bom Bombs to educated everyone about the importance of luxury skin care. It’s not $70 24k face mask. It’s a great product that can bring great benefits inside and out. And to see me making a difference in self-esteem and someone’s skin is everything!

Remember we are caring, sharing and loving one blog at a time,

Markeisha Jayy
